The home of Phalaenopsis corningiana (orchid) is gone forever!!!

The home of rare orchid, Phalaenopsis corningiana is now become the new home of palm tree from Africa. I am feeling sad to see this. The foreground was the freshwater swamp & background was used to be hill Kerangas forest. My playground is gone, one by one....replacing by the oil palm slowly.

The remaining forest is waiting to be cleared by humans. :-(

    Seeing reports like these sadden me to no end. Of course I understand the economic benefits of this type of human behavior, but isn't there anything that can be done to prevent or limit all this destruction? Are there any sort of conservation programs in Malaysia or Indonesia, or any organizations that are trying to do anything? I am trying to figure out a way to get back in school and become a scientist so that I can travel to these areas and study the wild life as well as do anything I can as far as conservation and preservation, however I am afraid that even if I knew how I intended to accomplish this goal, I fear that many of these areas would be gone by the time I got there, and many of the species extinct :(
