Bucephalandra "grey" found near waterfalls!!!

First time found this Bucephalandra "grey" or "pearl gray" near some waterfalls. Well, not all are grey coloured, most of them are apple green coloured.....with tiny white spots on the blade (leaf surface), midrib & lateral veins.




This one got very round leaves.

Night walk at matang

It is easier to find animals or insects after the sunset in the jungle of Borneo.


Blue-eyed angle-headed lizard (Gonocephalus liogaster).





 Bornean angle-headed lizard (Gonocephalus bornensis).





Praying mantis.


Stick insect.


Giant spider.

Blotch-thighed torrent frog (Meristogenys poecilus).


Moth.

Rasbora sarawakensis.


A female hunting spider is carrying its egg sec.


A strange looking jungle cockroach.


Weta.

Long-legged centipede. It only hunts at night....

Kadsura borneensis  (Family = Schisandraceae)



Wild ginger, probably Zingiber acuminatum var. borneense.

Malaxis sp. Probably Malaxis chlorophrys (?)








Dossinia marmorata (jewel orchid from limestone, endemic species to Sarawak).

3 species of Begonia on the slope limestone hill

This limestone hill is really amazing! Between 200 feet to 400 feet, got 3 species of Begonia growing on the mossy limestone wall.

At 200 feet, the ground is very dark & humid. Here, I found this Begonia - species A.




Begonia species B found on the drier wall at 300 feet high. Here is not so humid & got more sunlight. Looks very similar to Begonia speluncae from Bau area.






Begonia species C is growing on the cliff at 400 feet high. Here is windy & got even more sunlight.
