Beware of tiger leech!!!
Tiger leech is the most "horrible" leech that I ever met! It will give you very painful bite! Also known as "painted leech". Scientific name is Haemadipsa picta.
New year, new book!
"Aroids, plants of Arum family" that I ordered from Amazon.com is arrived today! New year, new reference book. I need to buy as many reference books as possible for writing articles about plants.

Flora from lower part of Gunung Kanyi
A stream is running across a big tree buttress.

A young tree of Acasia (introduced from Australia).
A fern (Christensenia aesculifolia).
Probably juvenile of the fern shown above (Christensenia aesculifolia).
A species of small fern grows together with Piptospatha elongata on granite boulders.

In search for the tallest waterfall at Mount Kanyi
There are a lot of waterfalls at Mount Kanyi....but there is a tallest one that I haven't reach. Due to the high & strong water current, we failed to hike up the river. We'll come back again in dry season.

Revisiting our secret canyon on first day of 2012
On the first day of 2012, we went to visit our secret canyon. All photos are taken using Nikon coolpix P7100.
There is a boulder stuck in the middle of narrow passage. We have to either dive pass it (underneath) or climb over it.
The narrow passage of secret canyon...
Two cameras belonged to my friends were dropped into the water in the narrow passage.
