Fishes of Upper Segama river (Sabah) - part 1

Pangasius tubbi, catfish.


Garra borneensis from Ulu Segama of Sabah. The species name "borneensis" means something from Borneo in latin.

Gosh!!! This is a beautiful freshwater fish that I ever seen in Sabah! It is called Luciosoma pellegrini ~ found in a tributary of Segama river.



If you come to Sabah, don't forget to find this predatory fish which named after Sabah; called Hampala sabana. It has longer & slimmer body compared to Hampala from other places in Borneo or outside Borneo.


Borneo sucker fish, Gastromyzon lepidogaster from east coast of Sabah. This is an adult fish. Juvenile has different body pattern.

Flying fox fish (Crossocheilus cobitis) from upper Segama river in Sabah. It is different from the flying fox fish in Sarawak.
