Surveying at Upper Sadong river (clearwater) & middle of Sadong river (blackwater) within a day. First time found so many freshwater puffer in blackwater river & also mudskipper & some gobies that we never seen before!

Periophthalmodon septemradiatus

Carinotetraodon salivator can be found from middle part to upper part of Sadong river but most of them are found in freshwater rivers in middle part which is near to brackish rivers. This red belly puffer fish is a male. Usually male population is smaller than female.

  1. No estuarine crocodiles I'm guessing, no chance getting waist deep to survey that sort of habitat here! 😳

  2. Hi Mike,

I'm so happy to find this photo blog. It is great, thank you for all pictures.

Have you ever seen tetraodon biocellatus(figure eight puffer) in brackish waters?
I'm wondering how their natural habitat looks.
