First hiking trip in 2026
First hiking trip in 2026: we found Rafflesia buds and durians at the same time. What a great day to start our first trip in this new year.
We found these unusual elongated shape of durians (Durio zibethinus) which the aril is greyish & yellowish colour. The taste is super nice and sweet.

Coffea liberica, common name = Liberian coffee is introduced to Sarawak for our local coffee market. It is originally from west Africa. Farmers here are starting to plant this species since it is adapted to our lowland tropical climate.

Wild durian from western Sarawak
On the last hiking trip of 2025, we found an unknown species of wild durian (Durio sp.) near the limestone hills at Serian area. The aril is very thin, like a piece of "skin" covered its seed. No durian smell & taste a bit sweet like rambutan but it doesn't taste like the durian that we bought in the market.
