This tree is probably a Laran (Neolamarckia cadamba)? I've seen flying squirrel eating the fruit in Sabah before.

It has 3 crowns (branches)!!! This is rare.

Tapang tree (koompassia excelsa) - giant tree of Borneo

Tapang tree (koompassia excelsa) is one of the giant trees of Borneo. The tallest measured specimen is 88m tall! There are a lot of Tapang trees in this old logging area. The trees are not cut down because local folks like to collect honey from bee hive which built on the canopy of this giant.

Insect trapped inside the resin of Tapang tree.

Fallen Tapang tree.

The bamboo ladder can be seen here in the fallen tree trunk. Locals always like to collect honey from bee hive which built on the canopy of Tapang tree.

The giant!

Tiger orchid grows on one of the branches.

Fallen trunk (crown).

The insect (beetle, I guess) is trapping insect the resin of Tapang tree. The insect thought the fallen Tapang tree is a dead tree, so it drilled a hole on tree trunk but when the tree is not dying, it produce resin to protect the tree from any "intruder".

Borneo short-tailed python (Python curtus breitsteini)

Borneo short-tailed python (Python curtus breitsteini) is the shortest python in Borneo.

It has "heat sensors" below its mouth so that it can hunt for small animal at night.
